January 6, 2009 Dear Members Happy New Year! In my address to the membership in the fall I mentioned that we were aiming to try something different for Legislative Action Day. I also asked the question “will you represent”, now is the opportunity and time for you to act. In particular we are going to be asking you to set up local meetings with our State Legislators in the Towns, Cities and Villages that they represent. With your participation we are going to embark on a “grass roots” effort to address all of our real property taxation concerns via our Legislative Agenda. We are asking that each County Association address at least two items on our Legislative Agenda with your State Legislators. We also acknowledge that a number of the State Legislators represent jurisdictions that overlap county lines; in this situation we are asking that a single meeting is scheduled with the respective county association members. In the next few weeks you will be contacted either by our Legislative Committee Chair- Christine Fusco or a member of the Legislative Committee with specific details. Once you are contacted you can began to schedule meetings the first three weeks in the month of February. As a reminder most Legislators are typically in their home district offices Wednesday through Friday. Let’s make this maiden voyage of Local Legislative Action Day a success. I anticipate your participation and I know that you will represent your association well! Sincerely,
